How are waterproof levels divided?
There are 9 levels of waterproof rating, represented by IPXX, where X represents a level from 0 to 9. The following explains the meaning of each number.
Dustproof level (indicated by the first X):
0: No protection
1: Prevent large solid intrusion
2: Prevent medium-sized solid intrusion
3: Prevent small solid intrusion
4: Prevent solid objects larger than 1mm from entering
5: Prevent harmful dust accumulation
6: Completely prevent dust from entering
Waterproof level IP0, 0 – No protection (indicated by the second X);
Waterproof level IP1, 1 – Indicates that vertically falling water drops of drip-proof type I have no harmful effects;
Waterproof level IP2, 2 – Drip-proof type II has no harmful effects of water drops falling within 15 degrees from the vertical direction;
Waterproof level IP3, 3 – Rainproof type has no harmful effects of rainfall within 60 degrees from the vertical direction;
Waterproof level IP4, 4 – Splash-proof type has no harmful effects of water splashing in any direction;
Waterproof level IP5, 5 – Jet-proof type has no harmful effects of water directly sprayed in any direction;
Waterproof level IP6, 6 – Waterproof type: water will not enter the interior even if it is directly sprayed from any direction;
Waterproof grade IP7, 7 – Immersion-proof type: water will not enter the interior even if it is immersed in water under specified conditions;
Waterproof grade IP8, 8 – Submersible type: can still be used even if it is immersed in water of a certain pressure for a long time;
Waterproof grade IP9, 9 – Moisture-proof type: can still be used in moisture with a relative humidity below 90%.
